Marieta Dumitrache (Arsene), MD, PhD, is a Romanian professor of ophthalmology at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. A 1965 graduate of the General Medicine Faculty of Bucharest, she began her ophthalmic and teaching career in 1968 at Coltea Hospital, moved in 1978 to the newly founded Ophthalmology Clinic of the Emergency Clinical Hospital (SUUB), and from 1986 headed the ophthalmology discipline of the Ophthalmological Emergency Clinical Hospital until 2011. Doctor of medicine, university professor and doctoral supervisor since 2006, she coordinated 24 ophthalmology books, including the three-volume Tratat de Oftalmologie (1,700 pages, 2012).
