Hans Bebie, PhD, is a Swiss biophysicist who received a Diploma in Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy from the University of Bern and a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1964. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Syracuse University (New York) he returned to the University of Bern, becoming Professor of Theoretical Physics in 1975 and Director of the Institute for Theoretical Physics from 1983 to 1999. In 1993 he received the Alfred Vogt Prize, the highest Swiss award for scientific research in ophthalmology. He coauthored Basic Sciences in Ophthalmology: Physics and Chemistry (Springer, 2013) with Flammer and Mozaffarieh and Visual Field Digest, a guide to perimetry and the Octopus perimeter.
