Claudio Traversi is an Italian ophthalmologist (born 1954 in Piancastagnaio, Siena). He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honours (110 e lode) from the University of Siena in 1979 and completed his ophthalmology specialty in 1983 under Prof. Renato Frezzotti. During residency he focused on retinal vascular diseases. He is associated with the Ophthalmology Specialty School of Siena University and is a co-author of Management of Early Progressive Corneal Ectasia: Accelerated Crosslinking Principles (Springer, 2017). In 2025 he commented on gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa.
